Kirklees Volunteer Mentoring Project - 2023

Do you live or work in Huddersfield,  Batley or wider Kirklees area? Are you looking for a student placement or volunteering opportunity or are you are freelance sessional worker looking for extra hours?

We are currently expanding our existing mentoring programme in Kirklees and now recruiting to expanding our freelance sessional workers register and we are always looking for volunteer mentor roles to our project that provides both one to one support to young people at risk of Child Criminal Exploitation aged 11 to 19 who live in the Kirklees area.

Our mentoring project is funded via the West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Partnership and Safer Kirklees and has been running in Huddersfield since 2019.

The aim of our community mentoring programmes is to match a mentor with a young person and engage them into positive activities as well as a trusted adult to help navigate them away from negative influences or experiences.

We cover expenses of our volunteers, which includes travel expenses and also provide training during your time with us, and all we ask in return is a minimum of 2/3 hours commitment once a week to provide support to a young person.  This can be on an evening, weekend or during the day.

All our mentors and volunteers are required to complete a full enhanced DBS and recruitment process and complete our induction and safeguarding training  prior to any placement with a young person.

It's not all work though! As a thank you to our volunteers and mentors commitment we arrange socials throughout the year for all to attend.

If you are interested or you need more information & would like an informal chat about our roles, please don’t hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to arrange a time to discuss.
