2009 Our 1st AGM
1st Yorkshire Mentoring Forum Conference June 2009
The first Yorkshire Mentoring Conference held at Pontefract Racecourse on 4th June 2009 was a great success.
With well over 90 delegates attending with 10 different workshops covering key aspects of mentoring, and an entertaining and motivational contribution from poet Ian McMillan,
If it was a West End musical the reviews would definitely say ‘this show will run and run!’ It was an excellent event for networking, the sharing of experience and the raising of the profile of the Yorkshire Mentoring Forum - the body set up to support individuals and organisations wanting to deliver mentoring services more effectively

2nd Yorkshire and Humber Mentoring Forum Conference
3rd February 2010
Over 30 people attended the second Yorkshire and Humber Mentoring Forum conference held at Pontefract Racecourse. After lunch and networking delegates heard 3 presentations and were encouraged to share their experiences and practice.
The first presentation was by Lucy Pattison of Rodillian School who outlined the development of assertive mentoring which was introduced at the school with the aim of improving aspirations and achievement.
The second presentation was from Joanne and Janet from Kings School Pontefract which described their work towards APS accreditation for their business and peer mentoring schemes.
The final presentation was given by Barry Hilton, chair of YMF who described best practice and suggested ways that delegates could measure the impact of their mentoring work.
Very positive with delegates particularly highlighting the networking and opportunity to share practice.
Topics for future events suggested were:
Mentor training: how to design a programme and train the trainer, accreditation for mentors, masterclass on monitoring, evaluation and impact
It was also suggested that the forum could run mentor training and that the inclusion of first hand accounts from mentors and mentees would be really helpful.
